The information below covers 2017 summer training and programming offered by the Mahtomedi Basketball Association and other organizations and individuals across the metro area. Get out and play some ball this Summer!  Contact Tom Hoffman at thoffman@primetherapeutics.com with questions. 

 

MBA Small Group Summer Training – The Mahtomedi Basketball Association offers small group summer training, at a minimal cost ($15/session), for boys and girls entering 4th through 9th grade for the '17-'18 school year. One hour sessions are led by MBA Trainers Keith Newman, Neal Fox, Mark Gustafson, and Erica Zizzo and are available at various times throughout the summer. Sessions are organized by grade and gender, are open for up to four players, and are held at Mahtomedi High School, OH Anderson Elementary, and outside at Wildwood Elementary. 5k Made Shots Club – Back this summer is the 5,000 made shot club. MBA players entering 4th-9th grade in fall 2017 are eligible. Any player who makes 5,000 or more game-speed shots, between June 1 and October 1, will receive a great t-shirt AND a much improved shot.  Details:

  • Between June 1 and October 1 make 5,000 shots at game speed
  • Shoot at least 100 shots in a set
  • Keep track of your shots throughout the summer
  • Have a parent or guardian sign your paperwork
  • Send your signed paperwork to mahtomedi.basketball@gmail.com no later than October 5

 

Mahtomedi Community Ed Basketball Camps – Mahtomedi High School coaches Keith Newman and Eric Prose lead camps focused on fundamentals, teamwork, and skill development. Register here:

East Metro Elite Basketball Camp – Mahtomedi trainer Erica Zizzo leads a camp for girls entering grades 4-10. The camp is open to players from all schools and runs August 7-10, 9a-2p at Mahtomedi High School. Register here: https://mahtomedibasketball.sportngin.com/register/form/185729331

 

Midwest 3on3 Spring, summer, and fall leagues are available at various locations throughout the metro area for grades 3 through 12. Teams are organized by parents and typically consist of four or five players. Two twenty minute running time half-court games are played on Sunday afternoons/evenings. Parents can help with subbing, but no coaching is allowed. Mahtomedi teams often play in the spring Stillwater league and the Mounds View and Forest Lake fall leagues. MYAS Spring and Summer Tournaments – Some Mahtomedi teams extend their season by participating in spring and/or summer MYAS tournaments. Participation is organized by coaches and/or parents and teams/families pay fees on a per tournament basis. Most tournaments are one-day only on Saturday or Sunday. AAU - The competitive AAU season runs from early spring through early summer. Grade-based club teams form via fall tryouts and consist of stronger players from multiple communities. Some clubs also offer spring tryouts. A list of metro area AAU clubs is here: http://www.mahtomedibasketball.org/aau
