2023 Summer Trainers

Marisa Gustafson - Marisa graduated from Mahtomedi High School in 2017, where she played as a varsity starter for five years. She is now in her sophomore year at Gustavus Adolphus College where she plays for the basketball team and is pursuing a Spanish education degree and a coaching minor.  This is Marisa’s fourth year working as a trainer for the Mahtomedi Basketball Association.   She has worked as a player coach for several summer basketball camps, and along with her dad, is currently coaching a spring/summer AAU team.

Girls Training: Completed 2nd – 7th Grade

Mark Gustafson - Mark has been coaching/training basketball for over 30 years including several years with both the boys and girls varsity programs in Mahtomedi and with competitive AAU teams and youth traveling teams.  He served on the Mahtomedi Basketball Association board for 16 years.  As a lead trainer for the MBA the last three years, small group training has become one of Mark’s top priorities and favorite activities as it provides an opportunity to forget about the wins and losses and focus purely on skill development.

Jefferson Mason:  Coach Mason played college basketball at Minnesota State-Mankato University where he was named to four All-American teams and helped his team to the 2011 Final Four in his senior year. He then went on to play professionally making stops in Germany, Romania, Turkey, and Luxembourg. Coach Mason also spent preseason time with the Minnesota Timberwolves before being drafted in the NBA G-League by the Dallas Mavericks in 2012. In 2022 Mason was inducted into the Minnesota State-Mankato Athletic Hall of Fame. He’s trained players at every level for the last 10 years and has directed camps/clinics around the world. Coach Mason is the Global Lead Trainer for Dr. Dish Basketball.
